Linking missions to scenarios for analysis of military macro-systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
Military Operations Research studies often involve the analysis of structured descriptions of plausible contingencies called ‘scenarios’. While scenarios attempt to provide a sufficient account of an unfolding contingency they do not typically include details of specific types of missions undertaken at the operational level or even the broad roles of the military forces undertaking those missions. Some means of linking key events, decision points and military activities in the chosen scenario to the roles and missions undertaken by a military force was thus sought for recent studies in joint operations. This article discusses a Mission-to-Scenario methodology developed, which provides a repeatable framework to structure the analysis of related problems. Application of the Mission-to-Scenario methodology for military macrosystem analysis may then be used to explore the efficacy of military capabilities, operational effectiveness of specific platforms and the impact of proposed insertion of new technologies or organisational changes. متن کاملImproving the Resilience of Military Hospitals Through Self-Adaptation of Hospital Systems Using Organic Computing
Background and Aim: Among the failures of a disaster, the disruption of the critical infrastructure of the community causes the most damage to society. Therefore, the ability of critical infrastructure such as hospitals to anticipate, absorb, adapt or rapidly recover from a devastating event is essential. The purpose of this study is to design a self-adaptive model for resilient hospital system...
متن کاملBattlefield ethics training: integrating ethical scenarios in high-intensity military field exercises
There is growing evidence that modern missions have added stresses and ethical complexities not seen in previous military operations and that there are links between battlefield stressors and ethical lapses. Military ethicists have concluded that the ethical challenges of modern missions are not well addressed by current military ethics educational programs. Integrating the extant research in t...
متن کاملCapability-Based Models for Force Structure Computation and Evaluation
A major financial expense for any military is the acquisition, operation, and maintenance of assets (e.g., vehicles, ships and aircraft), as well as training systems for those assets (e.g., combination of vehicles, vehicle simulators and other training systems). Even slight improvements in force structure efficiency can save governments large amounts of money or, using the same budget, can buy ...

ABSTUCT Miniature robots enable low-cost planetary surface exploration missions, and new military missions in urban terrain where small robots provide critical assistance to human operations. These space and military missions have many similar technological challenges. Robots can be deployed in environments where it may not be safe or affordable to send humans, or where robots can reduce the ri...
